Brazil

Learn Portuguese with IPSL Global Engagement in beautiful Rio de Janeiro. IPSL’s teammates in Brazil are located near world-famous Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Students take intensive group courses and/or private classes in a very relaxed, friendly, and international environment that helps our students to learn Brazilian Portuguese (sometimes called “brasileiro”) while having a great time in Rio.

Volunteer Service Opportunities

In true IPSL fashion, our students also engage in a variety of projects that help underserved youth in Rio. These youth empowerment projects run the gamut from after school tutoring to sports and leisure activities. Travel to beautiful Rio de Janeiro with IPSL, learn Brazilian Portuguese, and help make a difference alongside local “Cariocas.”

Accommodation Options

Students stay with local families (our recommendation!) or in private apartments. Homestays are a great way to experience the Brazilian culture and practice your Portuguese, while apartments are ideal options for students who appreciate more privacy.

IPSL's mission is to engage students, educators, and grassroots organizations around the world in hands-on service to promote equitable relationships, social justice, sustainable change, and a commitment to our shared humanity.
