Shaw Student Center is the hub for student activity on Westminster's campus. You can check out the day's menu, buy Griffin gear at the spirit shop, or discuss plans for after graduation at the Career Center. Enjoy a meal from the dining hall or a beverage from Winged Scholar Coffee, which serves Starbucks coffee and seasonal drinks, along with fresh house-baked goods and grab-and-go options. Students can also visit the Associated Students of Westminster and Student Affairs offices to learn more about campus activities and to access student services.

Shaw Student Center is undergoing a series of renovations starting in summer 2024, in order to better serve Westminster students.

A Brief History

Opened in early 1969 as a student union building, the Manford A. Shaw Center is named after the university president who served 1968–1976. President Shaw was a Westminster trustee and graduate, and earned degrees from Yale and the University of Utah. During his term as president, Westminster not only built the Shaw Student Center, but also Malouf Hall.

The Shaw Student Center building has seen many changes over the years. Originally, it included the campus post office and a small health center. A dining room and snack bar were also moved over from Walker Hall. The original bookstore was dedicated in 1982. During 2020–21, pillars got a Westminster W painted on them, the floors were redone, and the dining hall furniture was updated.
