Created in 2016, the Staff Emeritus Program recognizes long-time staff contributions to Westminster and strives to maintain connection with staff who have retired from the university. Staff emeritus recipients are honored at an annual staff event—currently the staff retreat each May.
Eligibility
Staff who have at least 15 years of service to Westminster and are qualified for retirement are eligible for staff emeritus. In addition to at least 15 years of service, staff must have a record of support for and commitment to the university as demonstrated by one or more of the following:
- Contribution to the improvement of Westminster throughout your work
- A record of service to the university
- A history of mentoring/supporting other staff
- Ongoing involvement in campus activities
- Other support for the Westminster mission and community
Program Benefits
- Institutional ID card
- Ongoing email communications about Westminster news and events, including Campus Events, Griffin Gazette, and the Westminster Review
- Recognition as a staff emeritus inductee at the yearly staff retreat
- Free admission to performing arts, athletic, and other campus events
- Invitations to major campus activities and functions, such as Reunion Weekend, Silver Tea, inaugurations, and more
- Library privileges as a community user
- Free 1-year membership to the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center with the option to continue membership at the regular staff rate
- Ability to rent campus facilities at the current employee rate
- Access to the current employee discount at the campus spirit shop
Nominating a Staff Member
Supervisors and other staff can nominate anyone who meets the 15 years of service and retirement eligible criteria. The nominator must provide a letter of support that documents how the individual meets the criteria outlined above.
